This workshop introduces you to the process and possibilities that screen-printing can offer. Creatives of all levels are welcome! Learn the basics of designing art for screens using methods of open screen stencils and photo emulsion. Explore printing on paper, wood, and textiles. This class will leave you with the knowledge of what you need to set up a basic screen-printing studio at home.
Catherine Hallam is the owner & head studio teacher at Free Spirit Gallery Studio & Shop. She is an artist and arts educator with 20+ experience. She has a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Fashion Marketing, Bachelor of Design, and a Bachelor of Education (Visual Art). She has taught internationally, and for all ages, and has worked in a variety of arts education organizations in different capacities.
Materials to bring: Apron/work shirts, water bottle, assortment of surfaces to print on: nice paper, favorite t-shirt, fabric or pillowcase, smooth wood, metal, etc. to decorate with your own screen. *Must email 2 black only graphic images/simple thick/logos line drawings (no greyscale) and/or text .jpeg files, min. 300k (final screen is 8” x10”) to info@freespiritstudio.ca seven days in advance of workshop date to be burned to a screen for you.
