Inspired by the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and their 94 Calls to Action, we’re inviting Gabriola to join us for our 4th annual community conversation. Hosted by Shelagh Rogers, this year we are reading 21 Things You May Not Know About The Indian Act: Helping Canadians Make Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples a Reality by Bob Joseph.
Bob Joseph is an Indigenous person, status Indian and soon to be Hereditary Chief in the Gayaxala (Thunderbird) clan, the first clan of the Gwawa’enuxw, one of the 18 tribes of the Kwakwaka’wakw. He is a well respected trainer in building Indigenous relations and the author and co-author of a number of books including the national bestseller 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act.
Shelagh Rogers is a distinguished journalist and longtime program host with CBC. She is an Officer of the Order of Canada and an Honourary Witness to the brave and essential work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
