Poetry Gabriola Society is thrilled to be presenting an evening of inspiring, contemporary poetry by these two award winning Vancouver Island Poets and Authors.

Arleen Paré Arleen Paré is a Victoria writer. She has published seven collections of poetry, two of which are cross-genre. She has been short-listed for the BC Dorothy Livesay BC Award for Poetry and has won the American Golden Crown Award for Poetry, the Victoria Butler Book Prize, a CBC Bookie Award, and the Governor Generals’ Award for Poetry for Lake of Two Mountains. Her latest poetry collection, Earle Street, was released by Talonbooks in Spring, 2020. Her seventh collection will be released May 1 st , 2021. She lives with her partner of forty years in Victoria on the traditional territories of the WSÁNEĆ (Saanich), Lkwungen (Songhees), Wyomilth (Esquimalt) peoples of the Coast Salish Nation.

Kate Braid is winner of the 1992 Pat Lowther Award and recipient of the Vancouver Mayor’s Literary Award for the Arts 2015. She has written, co-written, edited, and co-edited 15 books of poetry and creative non-fiction.
