Cathie Ugrin

Living with mental illness is a journey and a process, an often emotional and physical roller-coaster which is likely to impact all of us at some time, either directly or indirectly through a family member or friend. Manitoba fabric artist Cathie Ugrin grew up in a family with mental illness. In this, the second in our series of afternoon dialogues, Cathie shares her personal story and how she uses her art practice to better understand and express authentic emotion.

Cathie Ugrin is a Winnipeg based fabric artist well known for her use of colour and unique approach to geometric design. She has exhibited in North America both as a solo artist and collaborator and is a founding member and the Exhibits Coordinator for the Textile and Fabric Artists of Manitoba.
