This workshop aims to help you freshen up or possibly even kindle a fire under your fiction or nonfiction. Using discussion and brief writing exercises, we’ll explore techniques to enhance creativity in ways it might apply to language, dramatic tension, characterization, and more.
Gabriola resident Bill Gaston has published over a dozen novels and story collections, two memoirs, and a book of poems. His work has won or been nominated for the Giller Prize, Governor General’s Award, BC Book Prize, CBC Literary Award, the inaugural Timothy Findley Award for a body of work, and translated into several languages. He recently retired from UVic after teaching writing for 30+ years.
Materials to bring: Pen and paper or laptop.
