Income taxes for self-employed artists
Tuesday, Apr 6 | 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

We will go through the income tax self-employment form (officially the “Statement of Business or Professional Income” or Form T2125), focusing on what can be included in each of the business expenses categories, how the business-use-of-home expenses are calculated, and how using a spreadsheet can help you keep track of your expenses as a self-employed artist. Basic knowledge of Excel spreadsheets would help but is not required.

Sibyl Frei has worked in the cultural sector for 30 years, first as managing editor/co-owner of a book publishing company (RagweedPress/gynergy books), and then as an independent arts consultant. She trained individual artists in business skills, income tax issues, preparing budgets, etc., and has completed her own income taxes since she started working.
