Facing the open mic
Sunday, Apr 11 | 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

With the rise of Pandemic Restrictions, poets have taken to the inter-webs to perform and share.
This lab is a look into the dynamics of an ‘open mic’. Participants will explore the live performance of one’s work… what might work; what doesn’t; and how to approach the online open mic… the new mainstay of the poetry and spoken word world.

Lisa Webster is a proud Mohawk/Lenape with a mixed Scottish heritage (fierce and frugal). She is happily emerging as a multi-dimensional artist in spoken words, visual arts and music as she moves towards retirement. She has performed and hosted many open mic and spoken word events. Her spoken word performances delve into a range of topics from her native identity to life on a Gabriola. Recently, she has been participating in the Kingston Indigenous Language Nest Kenikororo:roks Art and Storytelling Initiative.
