In this workshop, you will learn two things: how to write with a Chinese brush and ink, and how Chinese characters evolved. Basic Chinese characters from nature will be introduced. At the end of the session, participants will make a booklet of Chinese characters to take home.
Shino Yoneda is a teacher from Japan who has been volunteering for the 1000 Crane Projects for the Qualicum Beach community. Shino teaches origami as art and math, and Chinese Brush Writing. She also instructs Japanese abacus as a way of doing arithmetic.
Materials to bring: Old shirt, apron, or smock.
